1. Where did I conduct the research? (Research site)
This research is conducted on project management based organization in Kuantan. There are three selected company which are one of it is the company that involved in development and housing project, the second company is company that handle event management and the third company selected is the company that involved in petrochemical project which is all of this company located around Kuantan area. these three companies are among the biggest organization that involved in project management. From the three different areas of project management the differences of this three company handle their project will be seen more clearly.
2. Who did I conduct it on? (Description of the participants/ subjects of your study)
the participant for this study is the project manager of the three companies. As all the company had handled a lot of project over the year so the number of project manager in the company also will be a lot. 20 project manager from development and housing company will be choose to become respondent for this study, 10 from event management company and the rest will be project manager from petrochemical project company . The three companies handle a big project so the project manager from these three company must have a lot of experience in project management. surely they understand about risk management and also specifically risk management plan and the relation of it to the project management performance.
3. What are you going to observe in your research? (Research Focus)
this research is generally will discuss about risk management in project management. but to become more focus this research are focused on the risk management plan in risk management process. from that it is to investigate about the relationship between risk management plan with the project management performance of an organization. this study is actually will find out on how risk management plan can contribute to the better performance in project management.
You must be extremely clear of what you would like to find out in your research and that is what you have to pursue and nothing else. So make this clear in your mind and your methodology. For example you want to see the relationship between the level of project managers' emotional intelligence and his/her leadership skills. So the research focus is on EI and leadership skills. The instruments to collect data must also reflect this.
4. What type of data are you going to collect? (Data collection methods/ instrumentation)
You must have an instrument (or better still a few to triangulate data) to measure what you want to observe. Let's take the research in No 3 above, there must be an instrument to measure project managers' emotional intelligence perhaps a test. There must also be an instrument to measure project managers' leadership skills perhaps a survey/ interview/observation. In this section of the chapter you need to describe in detail what is the instrument used, what is it used for and how it is used. All these have to be clear to your reader so that they can understand the research procedure easily.
5. How are you going to collect the data? (Research procedure)
Here you need to write step-by-step how you administered the instrument on your subjects from start to end.
6. How are you going to analyze the data? (Data analysis procedure)
Again, you need to write step-by-step how you analyzed the instrument on your subjects from start to end. How you coded the data, analyzed them and derived your findings. Did you use any statistical analysis or just frequency? You need to explain this.
